The Rainforest Inn was an excellent base for seeing Puerto Rico! We stayed there over the New Years weekend. It was like staying in a treehouse in the nearby rainforest. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed. There is plenty of deck and patio space to sit, relax and enjoy the surrounding rainforest. The breakfasts are delicious and large enough to keep you going all day. Hiking, kayaking, city touring and beaches are all within a couple hours drive away. The hosts are helpful guides for quality and availability of touring opportunities. It is also a great place to just read, chat, and explore near the Inn if you are not inclined to explore elsewhere. I highly recommend getting directions, as it off a winding mountain rainforest road that can be hard to spot at night. Our best landmark was the entrance to the El Yunque Forest that is a couple hundred feet past the entrance gate to the neighborhood of the Inn. The screened windows of the rooms provide a cool breeze and allow guests to still hear the sounds of the rainforest. This is one of the best places I've stayed!
