I hate that people are living in El Yunque. It is a rainforest, one of the very few in the world and there you are bring high tech to one of the most beautiful places on earth. I hope the termites, bugs, humidity and everything that can destroy your house wins. It is people like you that destroy our limited natural resources. I'm disgusted!

-- I asked the above poster where she lived and she replied:

Hi Bill,

I live in Georgia, but my dad's place faces El Yunque from Luquillo. I remember going there back in 1964 and it was the most fragrant, beautiful I had ever been to in my life. When I returned years later, I was aghast that people had actually began building homes in this rare forest.

I had lived in the desert of Arizona for 15 years and each environ has its own properties, good and unfriendly alike. So, when you chose to be in a place that is not meant for humans, I have no pity for the inconvenience for those living there. In contrast, living in the desert brought dry skin, insects, wild animals and other problems, but I respected the place and loved it and never complained.

So my reaction to your blog was just that. ... if you live in the rainforest, you will have rainforest problems ... so love it!    I plan to be in PR next week and may take a ride into the rainforest, but I fear it's slowly dying because of human habitation. There are so many other place to live. Unless you are a scientist or biologist, why live there?

Good luck.
